The idea of Rebecca's Magical Flight was to cut a puzzle reflecting the climactic moment in a very brief story I wrote. In the tale, Rebecca is invited by the Fairy King late at night, who invites her to fly with him, in fullfillment of his birthday promise, to visit the fantastical Land of Sparkle. Upon her arrival, the magical inhabitants are excitedly preparing for the coming May Day, and Rebecca soon learns she has been named the Princess of May.
The puzzle was given to my niece, Rebecca, for her 8th birthday.
Rebecca can be seen flying overhead in her nightgown as she gazes on the festival preparations below.
The Figurals which visited this puzzle were chiefly creatures of the fantasy world, which is a fondness of Rebecca's. Fairies and unicorns mingle with the birds, bunnies and butterflies while Buff soars overhead.
Here a fairy takes a break from the exhausting preparations by sitting on the back of a unicorn.
The unicorn Figurals were probably attracted to visit the puzzle because of the content of the picture, and surely because of Rebecca's arrival. Unicorn's have often been the symbol of good, kindness and innocence.
Of course, what is Spring without a little love in the air?
Rebecca, the Princess of May, and Buff, the Magic Dragon.
I chose Cherry to cut this puzzle from, and I really like the rich color it provides. The back of Rebecca's Magical Flight, seen below, can also be seen as the backdrop to this website.
