With my Imaginary Flight puzzle, I "took off" into a new puzzle making experience by creating certain areas within the original artist's picture which had a dual layer of puzzle pieces. What this achieved, I think, is to provide a sense of depth where the children seem to be flying right out of the picture as they let their imaginations soar.
By tilting the puzzle somewhat, the "3-D" effect becomes more noticeable. The front of the "plane" and it's left wing, the children's left arm's, and the umbrella all come forward toward the viewer.
On a mostly overcast day, Buff can be found enjoying a rare patch of blue sky.
As I interpret this painting to be an example of the power of childhood imagination, I was not surprised to see such Figurals as Pegasus, Superman, Marry Poppins and Harry Potter appear. A pair of hot air balloons remind us of the wonders of flight.
The Man of Steel seems to be very busy rescuing an airplane, and Marry Poppins has caught a very stiff breeze!
This puzzle was a gift for my parents, so Harry Potter was sure to visit, knowing that my mother is his number one fan!
By making this a two layered puzzle, I was afforded the opportunity to have some extra fun. This puzzle contains two extra "bonus" Figurals (who are hiding). If you look at the picture below, you will see that the front of the children's "plane" is made up of an old biscuit box.
If you "open up the box" by removing the top layer of pieces, you will find two special stowaways hiding inside.
